> > In 1976, I was 11 years old, when my dad Alvin Owletuck Sr.
(now a retired Catholic Deacon)was accidently hit by a City of Bethel,
Alaska police car and they covered it up. Dad was declared paralyzed
for life by the public health doctors. As the eldest son, I was faced
with supporting three brothers, three sisters, my mom and a paralyzed dad.
Since my dad was a deacon, the Catholic Bishop of Northern Alaska in
Fairbanks--Bishop Robert Whelan--sent a priest Fr. Charles Peterson to
Bethel, AK to investigate. From what I was told, Fr. Peterson was
able to secure the hidden records with the help of a State Trooper. My dad
sued the City of Bethel and won his case, settling out of court. My dad was
able to fully recover. This event left an indelible mark on my life, if we
are poor and uneducated--then those in power can "step on us". I became an
instant libertarian--civil libertarian--and have been advocating for rural
Alaskans since. The people asked me to run.
> I have a proven track record of advocating for people
internationally, nationally, statewide, regionally and locally. I've worked for U.S.
Senator Ted Stevens in Washington DC, and Alaska State Senator Lyman Hoffman
in Juneau, AK. Here I am, a voice for the people!
